About the New Theme

Just incase you didn’t notice it yet, the MENU is at the bottom.
errrm yeah; click the pencil at the bottom left corner and then you can customize the site theme for your own computer! you got blackish, green, orange, white, blue … i chose green ! The two reddish-orangish ones are ok, the blue one is rubbish.
Also the pages at the bottom menu have been arranged as “Parent”, “Child”, “Grandchild”. This means that you have to point the mouse over page names for a few seconds to reveal more pages … Try it out on “About Us”.
To comment on the website posts or pages, you have to register an account with City ISoc. Click the pencil in the bottom left corner and click register. Then verify your account from your email address (check Junk mail and set to “not junk”). After that to log in, click the pencil and then click the lock. To log out go back to the pencil and click the “tv switch” button. Alternatively you can use the link cityisoc.com/wp-login.php ! When you log in you will see a “dashboard”, there in the top right corner, you can edit your profile etc.
We may also have a downloads section, where we will post reliable books, audio etc. inshaaAllaah
I think that’s it … Enjoy !
O wait, advertise the site as much as you can … ISoc members claim the site for yourselves … put it on your msn … forum footer things … scribble it on your brother’s forehead when he’s asleep … do whatever it takes. I seen some brothers and sisters doing it … mashaaAllaah.

MashaAllah, a nice change to the website, but what happend to the logo? And I hope the way city university islamic society is written will be changed.
Also whats that part on the top right for? The picture.
Just a suggetion inshaAllah, I think you should have an option for people to subscribe themselves onto the mailing list, by just entering their email add and name..Maybe year and course name too..not sure if thats how it works.

Also is there no way we could change it so that we don’t have to scroll down and a lot of articles etc appearing on the home page?
We put (part of) the logo on the image corner … that’s the best we can do. Alhamdulillaah.
The writing is “readymade” … font etc. can’t be changed.
As for the “subscription”, thank you for the suggestion and we will get one up asap inshaaAllaah.
Parent page , not adult :) … That’s like “main page” with “sub-pages” (child) … so the “Events” is a parent page and then when you point the mouse over it for a few seconds, the child pages pop-up. The parent page is also a page to itself, so if you click “Events” then that’s a whole page to itself.

We have now limited the posts on home page to the most recent 5 (as opposed to before when it was 10) … so that’s half the scrolling cut down.
This is meant to be “bloggish” site , so a little scrolling down shouldn’t be a problem inshaaAllaah.
More suggestions are welcome.
The overall advantages outweighs these minor things in this theme …

Is there anyway to make the website more specific and unique to cityisoc? I think the weby is getting there but isnt the finished product so as to say. But maashaAllaah its looking ok.

lol, mashaAllah. Finally! someone is taking care of the website.
I like the theme, mashaAllah, Desktop like feel. But long term…have a vision what the website should be about and work towards it. If you have time, learn some php programming, then you maybe able to customize your theme to your liking. There plenty of tutorials on php and wordpress, who knows, these skills a nice addition to your CV inshaAllah
I like the arras theme. Looks good maashaAllaah.
That was the first choice, but there’s problems with it.

If this was to remain like a blog then maybe you should have sections on the right hand side which each article/post goes into. Would be easier to navigate around.
So you can’t change the title at the top? It looks too standard, like the title on word document in an essay…
Just another suggestion:
As someone said above how to make it unique to City ISoc can you make one of them banners that they have at the top of some blogs, in which the words and images flash- Not sure what its called, but it can have the slogan (which is…) the logo and a picture.
If its not clear what I’m talking about i’ll show an example..

I already made a flash banner from before … but will have to get rid off the title first to put it in.

the flash are 468×60 size , they don’t fill the top banner … too small
if I find big free ones, I will put em in inshaaAllaah

One more thing inshaAllah, can you change the way “Pearls of Wisdom” is displayed as in to not have it highlighted? If you want to make it stand out then having a different background colour in that box would be ok, I think it would look better…But just a suggestion.

@ sheikh admin we made quite a lot of changes to this theme etc. so we should stick to this and modify this one right now …
@ sister … that is built in the software … if I can I will edit the code for that, otherwise the highlights will remain.

we have added a subscription button on the top and a different one at the bottom.
The Email is the only thing that shows up, in the future inshaaAllaah we will try to develop one with course, year etc.
MashaAllah, the banner next to the logo looks excellent, and all other changes/additions that have been made.
May Allah accept your efforts and make them heavy on the scales of good, aameen.

MashaAllah, the new layout looks really good. JazakAllah Khayran to all those who participated in creating it. To those of you who know my Kunya you will know who I am, to everyone else, I just want to say greetings from the city of the prophet (SAW), al-Madinah al-Munawwarah.
Another thing I wanted to add was a little request. Last week in Cairo, while delivering the Friday Khutbah in Masjid Bilaal, one of our beloved teachers, shaykh Ridaa Abdul-Muhsin suffered a stroke. I ask all of you to make du’aa for him as he is in a very weak state. InshaAllah, I will be travelling to Egypt to see him next month. May Allah grant him shifa. Ameen!

ermm whats happened to the website is it beacuse the city inquerir comment section said something bad about it…
i really dont like it, the old layout is soooooooooooo much better, just my personal view its very bland and plain,

There were various problems with the old site, in terms of ease of page navigation, poster advertisements etc.
This theme will allow us to post posters onto the header image to advertise future events etc. It is also easier to change the theme as much as possible without having to adjust codes. Still changing the theme… need to put the logo etc.
Inshaa’Allaah you will get used to it.
And no offence caused at all !

WOoaaAh! what happened?!IMHO the previous site lookd waaaay better,tho i guess this is here to stay and i know it’s being updated bt does it have to be this colour?? Let’s make it bright and colourful..and funky!It’s going to take a lotta getting used to.. :S
