Ok really? no, honestly?! walkin up onto this thing is like walkin onto the set of a badly-made horror movie! everythin is sooooooooo eerily quiet! It’s like, i know there’s a bunch of silent spectators, and i keep thinkin ok, thora sa sabr, gentle push and everyone will come to life soon…gentle push…gentle..push.. But it seems that y’all don’t need no gentle pushin, u need a BIG FAT BOOT in the right direction! Sheeeeeeeesh!
TAYYEB! SO! haha did my shouty voice scare u?! u no some chick in new zealand got SACKED for using a ’shouty’ tone in her emails, i.e., writing in CAPITAL LETTERS!! They claimed she was causing distress and disharmony amongst her office colleagues because her emails were intimidating! Yeah right! You know her boss was probably jus an insecure MIDGET who felt threatened by her confidence and mental prowess! Silly fish!! [u think im talkin rubbish?! this was in the Telegraph last wk!!]
Anyhooo…so i was thinkin..maybe introduce an Amazing Quotes type thing here insha’Allah… u know, to wake you guys up & get u more involved? The ISoc Oldies will know what I’m talkin about, but for the rest of you:
Amazing Quotes can constitute:
-
Qur’aanic ayaat - somethin that inspires you
-
Hadeeth - traditions from the Prophet [saw]
-
Words of wisdom - from the salaf [predecessors], scholars of islaam, academics, etc
-
Misc - just a random quote that has an ‘amazing’ factor [for you]
We’re all different, and naturally different things appeal to different people. so there’s no right or wrong quote, just stick up whatever you think is worth mentioning insha’Allah.
***Please note*** Try to cite a general ref insha’Allah. Eg, for Qur’an you could say 3:160, for hadeeth you could say, Bukhari/Muslim/Bayhaqi, and for a statement just cite the author insha’allah. just makes it easier if ppl wna use em elsewhere.
Oookies! maketh a starteth then =) [no really, otherwise ima start pickin on ppl individually!!]
^^ The video doesn’t follow the recitation but it’s real nice masha’Allah so check it out.
And may Allah have mercy on you, and draw you all close to Him, Most High. Ameen.
In the care of Allah [swt],
Wassalaamu’alaikum wa rahamatullah

Ibn Majah records the hadith of Umm Salamah [ra], the mother of the believers, who said,
“During the time of the Prophet [saw], when the people stood for prayer, their gaze would not go beyond the place of his feet.
Then the Messenger of Allah [saw] passed away, and Abu Bakr [ra] (became the leader). When the people stood for prayer, their gaze would not go beyond the place of their foreheads (on the ground).
Then Abu Bakr [ra] passed away, and ‘Umar [ra] (became the leader). When the people stood for prayer, their gaze would not go beyond the place of the Qiblah.
Then ‘Uthman Ibn ‘Affan [ra] became the leader and the tribulation happened and people began looking left and right.”
Ibn Majah #1634. The Humility in Prayer, Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali, pg 46.
‘Amr bin Taghlib said,
“Some property was given to the Prophet(peace and blessings be upon him) and he gave it to some people and withheld it from some others. Then he came to know that they (the latter) were dissatisfied. So the Prophet said, ‘I give to one man and leave (do not give) another, and the one to whom I do not give is dearer to me than the one to whom I give. I give to some people because of the impatience and discontent present in their hearts, and leave other people because of the content and goodness Allah has bestowed on them, and one of them is ‘Amr bin Taghlib.”
‘Amr bin Taghlib said, “The sentence which Allah’s Apostle said in my favor is dearer to me than the possession of nice red camels.” (Bukhari)
The heart is like glass - do you not see the lamp? The glass lamp, or the windshield of the car…the windshield of the car has wipers and wiper fluid installed for it. So, whenever it becomes dirty, you press the button, and the fluid comes out, and the wipers clean it: “Follow a bad deed with a good deed, and it will wipe it out.” However, if you splash into a pit of mud, how can you clean your windshield? If a major sin is drowned out by another major sin, which is itself drowned out by another major sin, the heart will become murky. If the servant commits a sin, it will leave a black spot on his heart, followed by another spot, followed by another spot – until it becomes engulfed in blackness. When the heart becomes black, no light can emanate from it, and none is seen from it, and this is what is meant here:
{”Nay! On their hearts is the covering of sins and evil deeds which they used to earn.”} [al-Mutaffifin; 14]
He ends up not being able to visualize things, and one can see nothing from him. He becomes like the lens of a camera: if it is not wiped clean, one can see no pictures from it. Sometimes, he will see things for other than what they are if the dirt and murkiness pile on. So, if they pile on, he will see the good as being bad, and the bad as being good. He has darkened his heart, and has now become unable to distinguish between anything. He has obscured his heart, making it now necessary for his windshield wipers to work continuously, and these wipers will leave the heart clean. However, if the windshield becomes muddy, these wipers will simply spread the mud around. Such a situation requires long term effort, as you would not be able to use the wipers while you are driving. Such a case would require a true and sincere repentance, and a strong return to Allah, and nothing is impossible for you to do.
Many of the people were highway robbers. al-Fudayl bin ‘Iyad was a highway robber, and one night, he came up to a house that he wanted to rob, only to find its owner standing up at night in prayer, reciting:
{”Has not the time come for the hearts of those who to be affected by Allah’s Reminder and that which has been revealed of the truth, lest they become as those who received the Scripture before, and the term was prolonged for them, and their hearts were hardened? And many of them were sinners.”} [al-Hadid; 16]
He then said: “Yes, the time has come!” And he repented on the wall of the very house he was about to rob, and became al-Fudayl bin ‘Iyad, the greatest of worshippers and ascetics, and from the greatest of scholars and Muhaddithin!

A beautiful poem by Imam al-Shafi’i (May Allah have mercy on him).
Let days go forth and do as they please
And remain firm when settled is the Decree
Don’t be afraid of what happens by night
For the affairs of this world are not to last
And be a man, strong in the face of calamities
And let your nature be that of kindness and honesty
If your faults become too much in front of the people
And you wish that they were to be concealed,
Then know that kindness covers all faults
And how many faults are kept hidden by kindness!
No sadness lasts forever, nor any happiness
And you shall not remain in poverty, or any luxury
Generosity cannot be hoped from the miserly
For no water exists in the Fire for the thirsty
Your provision will not be decreased due to life’s delays
And it cannot be increased due to your haste
If, in your heart, you possess contentment
Then you and those who possess the world are equal
And for him upon whose horizon death descends,
No earth can offer him protection, nor any sky
Indeed, the earth of Allah is certainly vast
But if decree descends, then the world constricts
Let days be the ones that betray you at all times
For no cure can avail a person of death
“…Verily! The decision rests only with Allaah. In him, I put my trust and let all those that trust, put their trust in Him.” Surah Yusuf 12:67

Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?
Whatsoever is on it (the earth) will perish.
And the Face of your Lord full of Majesty and Honour will abide forever.
Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?
Whosoever is in the heavens and on earth begs of Him (its needs from Him). Every day He has a matter to bring forth!
Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?
(Surah Rahmaan 55:25-30)

It was narrated that Ibn Mas’ood (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said to me: “Recite the Qur’aan to me.” I said: “O Messenger of Allaah, shall I recite it to you when it was revealed to you?” He said: “I like to hear it from someone else.” So I recited Soorat al-Nisa’ to him, and when I reached this verse – “How (will it be) then, when We bring from each nation a witness and We bring you (O Muhammad) as a witness against these people?” [al-Nisa’ 4:41] – he said: “That is enough for now.” I turned to him and saw his eyes were streaming with tears. Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5050; Muslim, 800.
“How Can We Do Justice In Thanking Allaah, When The Very Fact That We Thank Allaah Is A Blessing From Him…” (Imam Shaafi’ee)
It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “There are seven whom Allaah will shade with His shade on the day when there will be no shade but His: a just ruler; a young man who grows up worshipping Allaah; a man whose heart is attached to the mosque; two men who love one another for the sake of Allaah, meeting and parting on that basis; a man who is called (to commit sin) by a woman of high status and great beauty and he says, ‘I fear Allaah’; a man who gives in charity so secretly that his left hand does not know what his right hand is doing; and a man who remembers Allaah when he is alone and his eyes flow with tears.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 660; Muslim, 1031.
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him), who said that the Messenger of Allaah (peace be upon him) said: Allaah (mighty and sublime be He) will say on the Day of Resurrection:
O son of Adam, I fell ill and you visited Me not. He will say: O Lord, and how should I visit You when You are the Lord of the worlds? He will say: Did you not know that My servant So-and-so had fallen ill and you visited him not? Did you not know that had you visited him you would have found Me with him? O son of Adam, I asked you for food and you fed Me not. He will say: O Lord, and how should I feed You when You are the Lord of the worlds? He will say: Did you not know that My servant So-and-so asked you for food and you fed him not? Did you not know that had you fed him you would surely have found that (the reward for doing so) with Me? O son of Adam, I asked you to give Me to drink and you gave Me not to drink. He will say: O Lord, how should I give You to drink whin You are the Lord of the worlds? He will say: My servant So-and-so asked you to give him to drink and you gave him not to drink. Had you given him to drink you would have surely found that with Me.

“If God answers your prayers, He is increasing your faith. If He delays, he is increasing your patience. If He doesn’t answer, He has something better for you..”
can’t remember where i got this from- i think it constitutes a misc …just a very nice quote for rememberance
“And how can you have patience about a thing which you know not?” Surah Kahf: 18:68
It was narrated that Anas ibn Maalik said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to say:
“Allaahumma inni a’oodhu bika min al-hamm wa’l-hazn wa’l-‘ajz wa’l-kasal wa’l-bukhl wa’l-jubn wa dala’ al-dayn wa ghalbat al-rijaal (O Allaah, I seek refuge with You from distress, grief, incapacity, laziness, miserliness, cowardice, the burden of debt and from being overpowered by men).”
Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 6008.
To the above ^^
Ibn Hajar said:
The interpretation of these things is: “distress” means bad things that the mind imagines are happening at present; “grief” for what has happened in the past; “incapacity” is the opposite of ability; “laziness” is the opposite of being energetic; “miserliness” is the opposite of generosity; “cowardice” is the opposite of courage.
Bakr bin Muhammad bin Abdullah said: If you witness your brethren being generous and honouring you, then say to yourself, this is a virtue that they have earned. If you see them fall into a shortcoming, then say to yourself, this is due to an error I have committed.
“What can my enemies do to me? I have in my breast both my heaven and my garden. If I travel they are with me, never leaving me. Imprisonment for me is a chance to be alone with my Lord. To be killed is martyrdom and to be exiled from my land is a spiritual journey.”
- Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullah), reported by his student Ibn al-Qayyim (rahimahullah)
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) enjoined that and said: “Whoever does you a favour, then reciprocate, and if you cannot find anything with which to reciprocate, then pray for him until you think that you have reciprocated him.” Narrated by Abu Dawood (1672).
Reciprocating kindness means choosing that which will make the one who did you a favour feel happy, just as he made you feel happy. So you should strive to thank him in kind. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“Is there any reward for good other than good?” [al-Rahmaan 55:60]
If you are not able to reciprocate with a gift, or helping with some task, or offering some service, etc, then at least you can say du’aa’ for him, and this du’aa’ may be a means of bringing him happiness in this world and in the Hereafter.
One of the best forms of du’aa’ for the one who has done you a favour is that which is mentioned in the Sunnah:
It was narrated that Usaamah ibn Zayd (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever has a favour done for him and says to the one who did it, ‘Jazak Allaahu khayran,’ has done enough to thank him.”
Narrated by al-Tirmidhi (1958) and by al-Nasaa’i in al-Sunan al-Kubra (6/53)
It says in Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah (5/322): ‘Umar ibn al-Khattaab (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: If one of you knew what there is in his saying to his brother, ‘Jazaak Allaahu khayran’, you would say it a great deal to one another.
What is meant by the phrase “Jazaak Allaahu khayran (May Allaah reward with you good)” is asking Allaah to reward you with a great deal of good.
Fayd al-Qadeer (1/410)
Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali said in ‘Lata’if al-Ma’arif’ (p. 276):
“Winter is the best season for the believer because…Allaah strengthens his practice in it by making worship easy for him. This is because in winter, the believer can fast during the day with ease without suffering from hunger and thirst. The days are short and cold, and he therefore doesn’t feel the hardship of fasting…
As for praying at night in the winter due to its long nights, one can have his share of sleep and then get up to pray afterwards and recite all that he usually recites of the Qur’an while he has had enough sleep. So, he can combine between the sleep that he needs and the usual amount of recitation of the Qur’aan that he completes in a day. So, he fulfills the interests of both his religion and the comfort of his body…
And it was narrated that Ibn Mas’ud said: “Welcome to winter! Blessings descend in it, its nights are long to pray in, and its days are short to fast in.” It is also narrated from him and al-Hasan: “Winter is a wonderful time for the believer. Its nights are long to pray in, and its days are short to fast in.” When it was winter time, ‘Ubayd bin ‘Umayr would say: “O people of the Qur’an! Your nights are now long for you to recite in. So, recite! Your days are now short for you to fast in. So, fast! Night prayer in the winter equals fasting during the day in the summer.” This is why Mu’adh wept on his deathbed and said: “I weep because I will miss the thirst I felt when I fasted, praying at night during the winter, and sitting knee to knee with the scholars during the gatherings of knowledge.””
It was narrated that ‘Aa’ishah said: “The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was keen to fast on Mondays and Thursdays.” (al-Nasaa’i, 2320).
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was asked about fasting on Mondays and Thursdays, and he said: “Those are two days on which people’s deeds are shown to the Lord of the Worlds, and I want my deeds to be shown to Him when I am fasting.” (al-Nasaa’i, 2358; Ibn Maajah, 1740; Ahmad, 8161; ).
Al-Bukhaari (1761) and Muslim (1946) narrated that Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Allaah said: ‘Every deed of the son of Adam is for him except fasting; it is for Me and I shall reward for it…’”
Al-Haafiz ibn Hajar (may Allaah have mercy on him) quoted the views of ten scholars who sought to explain the meaning of this hadeeth and why fasting was singled out in this manner. The most important of these views are as follows:
1 – That there is no showing off in fasting as may happen in other acts of worship. Al-Qurtubi said: Because showing off may enter into all good deeds, but no one can see when a person is fasting except Allaah, so Allaah connected it to Himself. Hence He said in the hadeeth, “He gives up his desire for My sake.” Ibn al-Jawzi said: All acts of worship can be seen when done, and they may be contaminated with some element of showing off, unlike fasting.
2 – That what is meant by the words, “I shall reward for it” is: I am the only One Who knows the extent of his reward and how much his hasanaat (good deeds) will be multiplied. Al-Qurtubi said: What this means is that the amount of reward for good deeds may become known to people, and they will be rewarded between ten and seven hundred fold, and as much as Allaah wants, except fasting, for Allaah will reward it without measure. This is supported by a report narrated by Muslim (115) from Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Every deed of the son of Adam will be rewarded between ten and seven hundred fold. Allaah said: ‘Except fasting, for it is for Me and I shall reward for it’” – i.e., I shall reward it greatly, without specifying how much. This is like the verse in which Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“Only those who are patient shall receive their reward in full, without reckoning”
[al-Zumar 39:10]
3 – That what is meant by “fasting is for Me” is that it is the dearest of acts of worship to Me. Ibn ‘Abd al-Barr said: The words “Fasting is for Me” are sufficient to indicate the superiority of fasting over all other acts of worship. Al-Nasaa’i (2220) narrated that Abu Umaamah said: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “You should fast, for there is nothing like it.” Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Nasaa’i.
4 – That fasting is mentioned in conjunction with Allaah by way of honouring, as we say, “the House of Allaah,” although all houses belong to Allaah. Al-Zayn ibn al-Muneer said: giving a specific meaning to something general in a context such as this can only be understood as being by way of honouring.

“be not soft in speech, lest he in whose heart is a disease (of hypocrisy, or evil desire for adultery) should be moved with desire, but speak in an honourable manner”
[al-Ahzaab 33:32]
Shaykhul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah - rahimahullaah - said:
‘When some people asked lmaam Ahmad bin Hanbal that they felt uneasy about criticising people, he replied: “If I were to remain silent, how would the ignorant masses know the authentic [narrations] from the inauthentic?’
Similarly, the innovators who introduce heretical writings which oppose the Qur’aan and the Sunnah, and those who innovate in matters of worship, then explaining their true condition and warning the Ummah against them is an obligation by the unanimous agreement of the Muslim Scholars.
In fact, when Imaam Ahmad bin Hanbal was asked whether a person who fasted, prayed and secluded himself in the mosque for worship was dearer to him than a person who spoke out against ahlul-bid’ah (the innovators), he replied:
‘When he fasts and prays and secludes himself, then he does so for the benefit of his own self. However, when he speaks out against the innovators, he does so for the benefit of the Muslims in general, and this is more virtuous.’
So it is clear that opposing the Innovators is of general benefit to the Muslims and is considered one of the types of jihaad in the path of Allaah. Since purifying the Religion of Allaah, its minhaaj (methodology) and its Sharee’ah, and defending it from their attacks and that of their enemies is a collective obligation - as is agreed upon by the Scholars.
For if Allaah did not raise up some people to repel the harm from such people, then the Religion would become corrupted. Indeed, this type of corruption is even greater than the corruption resulting from the disbelievers conquering the Muslims. Since when the disbelievers conquer the Muslims, they do not corrupt their hearts, nor their religion, except after some time. Whereas the innovators corrupt the hearts from the very outset.”
[majmoo’ fatawa (28/231-232)]
“During the days of turmoil Uthmaan RadiAllaahu ‘Anhu said: “I ask Allaah for forgiveness if I have done wrong, and I have already forgiven if I have been wronged by others.”
(’Uthman Ibn ‘Affan [Radia-Allahu 'Anhu - "May Allah be pleased with him] p.133 Dr. ‘Ali M. as-Sallabi)
Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:
It should be noted that appointing a leader to run the people’s affairs is one of the greatest of religious duties, without which no religious or worldly matters can be established, because the best interests of the son of Adam cannot be achieved without coming together, because they need one another. When they come together, it is essential to have a leader. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “If three people set out on a journey, let them appoint one of them in charge.” Narrated by Abu Dawood from the hadeeth of Abu Sa’eed and Abu Hurayrah. Imam Ahmad narrated in his Musnad from ‘Abd-Allaah ibn ‘Amr that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “It is not permissible for three people to be in the wilderness without appointing one of them in charge.” The fact that it is obligatory to appoint one person in charge of a small temporary group whilst travelling indicates that this is essential in all kinds of groups. And Allaah has commanded us to enjoin what is good and forbid what is evil, which can only be achieved from a position of strength and authority, and the same applies to all the other things that He has enjoined, such as jihad, justice, establishment of Hajj, Jumu’ah and ‘Eid, as well as supporting those who are wronged or oppressed, and carrying out hadd punishments – it cannot be achieved except from a position of strength and authority. Hence it was narrated that “the ruler is the shadow of Allaah on earth” and “Sixty years with (even) an unjust ruler are better than one night without a ruler.” Experience proves that this is so. End quote.
Majmoo’ al-Fataawa (28/390, 391).
In Saheeh al-Bukhaari (3267) and Saheeh Muslim (2989) it is narrated that Usaamah ibn Zayd (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say: “A man will be brought on the Day of Resurrection and thrown into the Fire; his intestines will spill forth and he will go around them as a donkey goes around the millstone. The people of Hell will gather around him and will say: O So and so, what is the matter with you? Did you not enjoin what is good and forbid what is evil? He will say: Yes, but I used to enjoin good and not do it, and I used to forbid evil and do it.”
“…the one without Ghayrah is one without Religion”
Ibn Al-Qayyim, Rahimahullaah, said:
“And the Dayyouth is the most vile of Allah’s creation, and Jannah is forbidden for him, (because of his lack of Ghayrah - jealousy).
The foundation of the Religion is Ghayrah, and the one without Ghayrah is one without Religion, for Ghayrah protects the heart and enlivens the limbs, and shields one from evil and lewdness, and lack of Ghayrah kills the heart so that the limbs die, so that there remains not even shielding from [the minor things].
And the example of Ghayrah in the heart is the example of the strength that shields one from sickness and fights it off, so if the strength leaves, he will be faced with the sickness, and will not find any thing to protect himself from it, so it will establish itself [within him] and destroy him.”
Ad-Daa’ Wad-Dawaa’, p.77
Bishr bin as-Sirri said:
“Verily, each verse is like a date: the more you chew it, the more of its sweetness is released.”
Abu Sulayman heard this and commented: “True. It is the case with one of you that if he begins one chapter of it, he wants to read it to the end.” ['al-Hadith fi 'Ulum al-Qur'an'; p. 70]
‘Umar [RadhiAllaahu 'Anhu] said: “Whoever conceals his secrets will have the choice (of telling whomever he wants to tell), but whoever speaks or acts in a suspicious manner should not blame anyone who thinks badly of him. Do not think badly of a word spoken by your brother when you can still find good ways to interpret it. Think positively of your brother until you are certain that he is not like that. Do not swear a great deal lest Allaah humiliate you. There is no better reward for one who disobey Allaah concerning you than your obeying Allaah concerning him. You should seek sincere friends and maintain good relations with them, for they are a pleasure at times of ease and a support at times of calamity.”
(’Umar Ibn Al-Khattab [Radia-Allaahu 'Anhu - "May Allaah be pleased with him] His Life & Times vol.1 p.337, 338 Dr. ‘Ali M. as-Sallabi)
Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:
So Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, will punish the one who wears silk in this world by depriving him of wearing it on the Day of Resurrection, and He will punish the one who drinks wine in this world by depriving him of it on the Day of Resurrection. The same also applies to the one who enjoys haraam images in this world. Indeed, everything that a person enjoys in this world, if he goes to extremes in that, even if it is halaal, his share of it will be reduced on the Day of Resurrection, to the extent that he indulged in it in this world. If he acquired it through haraam means, he will miss out on its counterpart on the Day of Resurrection. End quote.
Rawdat al-Muhibbeen, p. 362
Imam Al-Qurtubee (may Allaah have mercy on him) said, “One of the greatest afflictions a person can suffer is an affliction in matters that pertain to religion. The Messenger of Allaah (peace and bkessings be upon him) said, ‘When one of you is afflicted by a calamity, then let him remember how he was afflicted with my death, for indeed, that is the greatest of all calamities.’ Indeed the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) spoke the truth. Until the Day of Resurrection, no Muslim can be afflicted with a calamity that is greater than that of the Prophet’s death: revelation ceased to descend to earth, and Prophethood became a thing of the past (i.e., no other Prophet would be sent to mankind).
(The Biography of Abu Bakr As-Siddeeq [May Allaah be pleased with him] p.201 Dr. ‘Ali M. as-Sallabi)

Verily! In the creation of the heavens and the earth, and in the alternation of night and day, there are indeed signs for men of understanding.
Those who remember Allah (always, and in prayers) standing, sitting, and lying down on their sides, and think deeply about the creation of the heavens and the earth, (saying): “Our Lord! You have not created (all) this without purpose, glory to You! (Exalted are You above all that they associate with You as partners). Give us salvation from the torment of the Fire.
Our Lord! Verily, whom You admit to the Fire, indeed, You have disgraced him; and never will the Zalimun (wrong-doers) find any helpers.
“Our Lord! Verily, we have heard the call of one (Muhammad ??? ???? ???? ????) calling to Faith: ‘Believe in your Lord,’ and we have believed. Our Lord! Forgive us our sins and expiate from us our evil deeds, and make us die (in the state of righteousness) along with Al-Abrar (the pious believers).
“Our Lord! Grant us what You promised unto us through Your Messengers and disgrace us not on the Day of Resurrection, for You never break (Your) Promise.”
So their Lord accepted of them (their supplication and answered them), “Never will I allow to be lost the work of any of you, be he male or female. You are (members) one of another, so those who emigrated and were driven out from their homes, and suffered harm in My Cause, and who fought, and were killed (in My Cause), verily, I will expiate from them their evil deeds and admit them into Gardens under which rivers flow (in Paradise); a reward from Allah, and with Allah is the best of rewards.”
Let not the free disposal (and affluence) of the disbelievers throughout the land deceive you.
A brief enjoyment; then, their ultimate abode is Hell; and worst indeed is that place for rest.
But, for those who fear their Lord, are Gardens under which rivers flow (in Paradise); therein are they to dwell (for ever), an entertainment from Allah; and that which is with Allah is the Best for Al-Abrar (the pious believers).
And there are, certainly, among the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians), those who believe in Allah and in that which has been revealed to you, and in that which has been revealed to them, humbling themselves before Allah. They do not sell the Verses of Allah for a little price, for them is a reward with their Lord. Surely, Allah is Swift in account.
O you who believe! Endure and be more patient (than your enemy), and guard your territory by stationing army units permanently at the places from where the enemy can attack you, and fear Allah, so that you may be successful.

Perhaps relief is soon to follow,
We treat our souls with ‘perhaps’.
Closest is a person to relief,
When he surrenders to despair.
One of the Salaf [righteous predecessors] saw the Lord of Might in a dream and said,
“My Lord, I have invoked you so much, but without response!”
He [swt] replied, “I love to hear your voice.”

Verily, We have warned you of a near torment — the Day when man will see that (the deeds) which his hands have sent forth, and the disbeliever will say: “Woe to me! Would that I were dust!”
Surah Nabaa’ ayah 40.

just looking at surah nabaa’, well the translation, and something caught my eye, subhan’Allah.
ayah 21 allah [swt] says, “..truly hell is a place of ambush”, and thereafter the proceeding verses make mention of the wrongdoers and some of the torment they’ll face. this is summarised by the ayah “An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes)” - ayah 26.
bear that in mind, it’s important: an EXACT recompense…
thereafter, Allah [swt] says in ayah 31, “Verily, for the Muttaqûn, there will be a success (Paradise)”, and thus the proceeding verses endeavour to outline some of the rewards for the people of paradise. again, Allah [swt] summarises this in ayah 36: “A reward from your Lord, an ample calculated gift (according to the best of their good deeds).”
do you see it? look again…
in ayah 26, the bit about the people in the Fire comes to an end with Allah’s statement, ‘an exact recompense.’ exact being precise, equal. then, in ayah 36, allah [swt] summates the bounties of the people of paradise by describing it as an ‘ample gift’ - ample meaning abundant, more than enough, plentiful - according to the BEST of their deeds.
subhan’Allah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! look at the mercy and justice of allah [swt]! for the disbelievers [and sinners and wrongdoers] is an evil torment where they will be in the fire. this, in accordance to their level of transgression. yet, for the believers is a reward NOT EQUAL TO, NOT THE SAME AS, but over and above, yes, OVER AND ABOVE their good deeds, so much so that allah looks to the best of their good deeds and rewards them abundantly.
subahn’Allah, i dunno it kinda hit me and took me away in the same breath. walhamdulillah.
thought i’d share. this, by the way, tallies up perfectly with the ahadeeth and ayaat that make mention of paradise being through Allah’s mercy, Allah’s justice and not wronging anyone in aught, the writing of one evil deed as one, and a good deed from 10-700x. subhan’Allah.
anyhoo, i gotta jet. somethin i noticed, thought you guys may care to observe the same =) wallahu alam.
may allah have mercy on us and make every good deed a weighty one, and forgive us our many transgressions. may allah swt grant us paradise by his mercy, ameen ya rabb.
indeed allah is a witness over us, and allah knows best.
in the care of allah [swt]
wassalaamu’alaikum wa rahmatullah
It was proven from Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The closest that a person is to his Lord is when he is prostrating, so say a lot of du’aa’ then.” Narrated by Muslim, Abu Dawood and al-Nasaa’i.
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Our Lord descends to the lowest heaven every night when the last third of the night remains, and says: “Who will call upon Me, that I may answer him; who will ask of Me that I might give him; who will seek My forgiveness that I might forgive him?” Narrated by al-Bukhaari and Muslim.

‘Umar’s [ra] advice to the one who drank wine
‘Umar asked about a man from Syria who was very strong (and whom he noticed was absent). It was said to him that he had persisted in drinking alcohol. He said to his scribe to write:
“From ‘Umar ibn al-Khattaab to So and So. Peace be upon you. I praise Allah besides Whom there is no other god. In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
‘Hâ-Mîm
The revelation of the Book (this Qur’ân) is from Allâh the All-Mighty, the All-Knower.
The Forgiver of sin, the Acceptor of repentance, the Severe in punishment, the Bestower (of favours), Lâ ilâha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), to Him is the final return.’”
[Surah Ghaafir 40:1-3]
Then he sealed the letter and said to his messenger, “Do not give it to him except when he is sober.” Then he commanded those who were with him to pray for his repentance. When the letter reached the man, he started to read it and said, “My Lord has promised to forgive me, and has warned me of His punishment,” and he kept repeating it until he wept. Then he gave up wine and kept away from it. When ‘Umar heard of that he said, “This is what you should do. If you see that one of you has slipped, correct him, pray for him and do not help the Shaytaan against him (by insulting him etc.).”
