Coz Ramadhaan is like Truth Syrup

Reading time: 6 - 9 minutes

Bismillahir Rahmaanir Raheem

Assalaamu’alaikum y’all, how’s it goin insha’Allah?

Ok, do i sound like a really cheesy sales advert when i say that?! hmm, i duno. Khair, jus gota say a coupla bits, so if i could borrow a little bit of your precious time por favor…

Firstly, I praise and thank Allah, the Mighty, the Majestic, the First, the Last, the One and Only worthy of worship, for giving me this opportunity, because it really has been a gi-normous honour! Masha’Allah walhamdulillah. Then, i thank you guys for your patience with me, esp my little bros in islaam that were hanging about before my arrival..sorry, i think i scared u away =/

Now, i aint doin this coz i love the attention - im already used to it =) lol! but for real now, i’m doing this because lets face it, every deed, every word we put forth will approach us on the Day of Judgment, either as a witness for us, or a witness against us. And Allah knows i talk a lot! [And i guess you guys got it sussed too now huh =/] I’m not makin a whole loada sense here, i don’t think i ever do.

What I’m trying to say is this:

I’m not a writer. Some people very imprudently refered to my random rantings as ‘works’. May Allah have mercy upon them for their generous sentiments, but Allah knows, and I know, that i am in no position to put forth ‘works’. Works are from people of knowledge, the scholars of islaam, those who spent their lives studying the deen of allah, pursuing it, chasing it every moment of their lives. They went through -  and indeed go through - much difficulty and hardship in acquiring a true understanding of this beautiful relgion, they make night and day one for His sake, and then, finally, once they have acquired, understood, memorised and implemented that knowledge, they preserve it for us by writing on it. For those people, we call their efforts works. May Allah have mercy on all those who sincerely strive in preserving His religion. Ameen.

As for me, then i’m just your random jack that likes to talk too much, n here i am talkin too much! I think this era of Sheikh Google & web-technology is more detrimental to us than beneficial, because it causes more harm than it does good. The people who succeeded us in this religion, they were not in need of such thingamajigs, and yet they guarded their deen better than we do, they strove harder than we do, they feared Allah more than we do, and their states were far better than ours.

One of the diseases of the heart that a pure soul really needs to guard itself from is excessive speech. because excessive speech detracts from the remembrance of allah [wow i feel like a hypocrite saying that]. you know today, if we see someone sat quietly, minding their own business, not talking too much, not laughing too much, we call them anti-social. We assert they have behavioural problems or are just plain boring, becuase to us, to us they’re not ‘functioning’ as ‘normal’ humans do. You know, the people before you didn’t talk excessively, nor did they laugh much. they cried profusely out of fear of Allah, fear for their sins. they preferred solitude where they could spend time contemplating their relationship with Allah, as opposed to sitting around indulging in frivolous banter. amazing how times have changed huh?

look, im struggling to get my words out. i’m sorry im taking up so much of your time, but really all im tryna say to you is that everything i’ve said here, every little reminder, dumb joke and whatever else that has come your way recently  - if you’ve benefitted from it, then ALL praise is for Allah. See Ramadhaan is like truth syrup, it makes you see things like you don’t usualy. it brings you to certain realisations, makes you contemplate and consider things more, and really, any words of wisdom that have come your way under my pen name, it’s all been a blessing that’s part and parcel of the many blessings Allah bestows upon us in this month of abundant mercy. Walhamdulillah.

As for the mistakes, then they’re ALL mine. they come from an ignorant, nonchalant, ill-equipped individual. i do not know tafseer, i do not know hadeeth, i do not know fiqh. heck, i dont know much about much. pretty pathetic huh? the point is, when a nobody is placed amidst a group of people, it’s a dangerous game to play. allah alone knows what my intentions have been in writing what i’ve wrote*…and i can only ask that He [swt] accept my efforts as sincerely pleasing unto Him, Alone, because if you seek other than Him, then it’s struggle wasted. I ask that He, and then you guys can forgive me for my countless booboo’s. what can i say, i booboo a lot!

In short, i won’t be doing much of this no more insha’allah. as i said, ramadhaan is like truth syrup, so when my syrup is taken away from me, what will i hope to say? [man i cant believe it's gone so soon..Ramadhaan..not syrup =/]

okies, y’all be good now. fear allah in everything you do, follow up a wrong action with a good deed ‘that will efface it’. remember allah [swt] in hardship and in ease, and Allah will remember you in your hour of need. You know, when yunus [alayhis salaam] called out from the belly of the whale, and he made the beautiful du’aa, laa ilaaha illa anta subhaanaka innee kuntu minadh-dhaalimeen. Translation: There is no God worthy of worship but You, Glory be unto You, far removed are You from imperfection**, truly I have been from the wrongdoers. When he, may Allah [swt] send peace and blessings upon him, when he made that du’aa, the angels said, we hear a weak, familiar voice. Allah said, do you know who that is? it is My slave Yunus. and the angels, subhan’Allah, the angels said, the one who glorifies you night and day in hardship and ease? And subhan’Allah, they interceded with Allah on his behalf! And the scholars say that if you are someone who glorifies and remembers allah in hardship and ease, then when calamity hits, the angels will intercede for you and say, ’a familiar voice’, and thus the response to your supplications will be hastened. but if you are someone who only remembers allah when you are in need, then the angels will say, a weak, unfamiliar voice..and as such your supplication will be responded to accordingly. [gen ref: ibn rajab al hanbali, compendium of knowledge and wisdom, an exp to the 40 hadeeth of imaam an nawawee, hadeeth re. taqwaa, i fink its page 245+... allahu 'alam]

make the most of what’s left of ramadhaan, only allah knows if we’ll make it to the next. enjoy your eid =)

we ask allah swt to accept our deeds in this blessed month, and not have us walk away from it without having attained jannah by his mercy. ameen ya Rabb.

all that is good and correct is from allah. all that is false is from myself, a reflection of my abundant ignorance. forgive me, and may allah have mercy on u.

in the care of allah [swt],

wassalaamu’alaikum wa rahmatullah

* refers to everything posted by me thats not explicitly referenced. whats referenced is insha’allah legit, and i’ve cited the sources.

** the bit: ‘far removed are you from imperfection’. basically, i no genrly subhaan’allah/subhanaka [sory i dnt spk/comprehend arabic], but i no dat genrly its translated as glory be to allah. but in ibn taymiyyahs exp of the du’aa of yunus [relief frm distress - gud buk, get hold of it], he expounds upon the meaning of subhaan’Allah, so Glory be to Allah, far removed is He from any imperfection  - this is the more comprehensive definition of the phrase. and allah [swt] knows best.
